DRAKENSBERG

Natal is bordered on the west by the Drakensberg - a chain of rugged basalt heights complete with dramatic peaks and gorges, accessible foothills, a wealth of flora and fauna and a generous helping of resorts. The Central area is dominated by Champagne Castle (3 377m) and Cathkin Peak (3 181m). Further north is Mont-Aux- Sources and the monolithic Amphitheatre, with yellowwood forests, Bushman paintings and prolific bird life of the Royal National Park. In summer you will enjoy the warm sunny days, spectacular afternoon thunderstorms, and cool comfy nights; in winter, crisp, cool, cloudless days and cosy fireside evenings.
