To the east of Cape Town lies Gordon's Bay, with its calm waters and tiny harbour watched by craggy mountain peaks behind, where the Steenbras Dam is well worth a visit. While you are in the area, take the wonderful scenic drive that follows the coast through Betty's Bay. With its green winters and balmy summers, and spectacular coastal and country scenery, the Cape has it all, whatever you preference. In 1850, Sir Francis Drake described it as the "Fairest Cape."
